John and Barbara (Bobbie) Nau are majority owners of Silver Eagle Distributors, the nation’s largest distributor of Anheuser-Busch products. Silver Eagle employs over 1,100 employees that serve sixteen counties in Texas through operations in Houston, San Antonio, Conroe, Cypress and Rosenberg. Silver Eagle also distributes Grupo Modelo beers, a diverse selection of microbrews and craft beers and several non-alcohol beverages and waters.
Bobbie and John’s commitment to service is apparent through a broad spectrum of participation in civic, community, and philanthropic organizations in Houston and throughout the country.
Bobbie’s current involvement includes American Red Cross of Greater Houston (Board Member and Tiffany Circle Lifetime Member), The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Bayou Bend Collection & Gardens (Board Member), CASETA, United Way Women’s Initiative, Asante Society of Houston Zoo, and DePelchin Children’s Center’s Kezia DePelchin Society (lifetime member). She is also a long-time supporter of the Houston Chapter of Ducks Unlimited and has been honored as Sponsor of the Year for her dedication, commitment and support of their efforts.
John is a Trustees of Baylor College of Medicine, an Honorary Trustee of the Texas Heart Institute, a Director and on the Executive Committee of Greater Houston Partnership, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Civil War Preservation Trust. He also serves on the Boards of the National Park Foundation, Friends of the Texas Historical Commission, Discovery Green Conservancy, San Antonio River Foundation, National Western Art Foundation of The Briscoe Western Art Museum, and The Admiral Nimitz Foundation. He is the Chairman of the Council of Foundations of the University of Virginia and is the Vice Chairman of the UVA Capital Campaign.
Bobbie and John’s family includes two daughters, Elizabeth Nau Stepanian and husband Andy, Victoria Nau Johnson and husband Parker, and five grandchildren, Katharine, Reese and Driggs Stepanian and Liston and Case Johnson.
