Jackie Martin is principal of J S Martin Associates, LP, providing consulting services in the areas of development and fundraising, strategic collaboration, and strengthening corporate cultures. Previously, she was President of United Way of the Texas Gulf Coast, the largest charitable giving organization in the Houston. Under her leadership, the 80-plus-year-old United Way evolved to meet the changing needs of the volunteer community through a dual mission of increasing financial resources by conducting cost-effective fundraising, and adding value to United Way contributions through hundreds of funded programs and activities that benefit the community.
Jackie has devoted over 30 years to serving the community, professionally and personally, in human services. She has served as executive director of Houston’s San Jacinto Girl Scout Council, the largest in the nation. She is a former vice president of Marketing and Community Services with Neighborhood Centers Inc., a United Way agency; a manager of Community Initiatives with United Way; and a manager of aging services and coordinator for Health and Human Services of the Houston-Galveston Area Council.
Jackie serves on the boards of Houston Downtown Park Conservancy, Greater Houston Partnership, J.P. Morgan Chase, Alley Theatre, and on the Women’s Advisory Board of Vinson & Elkins. She was recognized in 2003 as Executive Communicator of the Year by Houston Business Journal and Houston’s Chapter of International Association of Business Communicators.
Jackie is a sixth generation Texan from Austin, with undergraduate and graduate degrees in Sociology from Texas Southern University. She considers her greatest achievement her adult son, Emile.
