james and maureen hackettJames T. Hackett is President and CEO of Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, one of the world’s largest independent oil and gas exploration and production companies. He has also been at the helm of Houston-based powers Devon, Ocean, Seagull, Duke, and Pan Energy. Jim is Chairman of the Domestic Petroleum Council, an Executive Committee member of the American Petroleum Institute and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. He is a director of Temple-Inland, Inc. and Fluor Corporation and serves on the Board of the Houston branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.

Continuing a high school courtship with Maureen O’Gara, Jim earned an MBA from Harvard and Maureen received a BA in Special Education from Arizona State University. Their four adult children have inspired and informed their commitments to family, health and education. Jim serves as Chairman of Houston Grand Opera, on the Board of Baylor College of Medicine, and Chair for the St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital capital campaign.

Maureen has served on numerous boards and campaigns supporting Houston’s leading medical institutions, including Baylor College of Medicine, St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital, The Methodist Hospital, and the Mental Health Association of Greater Houston. Beneficiaries of her passion for education are Saint Agnes Academy, University of St. Thomas, KIPP Academy, and Villanova, Georgetown, and Texas Southern Universities. A 2002 Woman of Distinction, Maureen has been a leader of the ESCAPE Family Resource Center and the Houston Council on Alcohol and Drugs.

Maureen and Jim are in the Philanthropy in Texas Hall of Fame and recipients of the Ima Hogg Award for Mental Health volunteerism.
