CISSY SEGALL DAVIS was destined to be in show business: her birth announcement was a pink theater ticket! Since 1972, she has been involved in the production, management and promotion of the commercial and non-profit theatrical, entertainment, and special event industries in Houston and across the U.S. Since taking the helm of the Miller Theatre Advisory Board in December 2008, Cissy has been a fierce advocate and passionate spokesperson for Miller Outdoor Theatre and it’s remarkable artistically excellent and culturally diverse free programming.
Under her guidance, the series has grown into the largest program of its kind in the U.S, attracting multi-generational, multi-cultural audiences to experience more than 100 high-quality free performances annually. As Managing Director, she has nurtured and encouraged performing arts and cultural organizations of all sizes and specialties, strengthened and improved the quality and diversity of performances, embraced streaming technology to expand Miller’s reach and help bolster Houston’s reputation as an arts and culture destination.
Cissy firmly believes in the power of the arts to bring together people of vastly different backgrounds to share experiences and make lasting memories, especially during Miller’s Centennial Season in 2023. She has invited artists from across the globe to perform at Miller. Performers from Argentina, Cambodia, Cuba, Guatemala, Honduras, Israel, Mexico, Nigeria, the Philippines, People’s Republic of China, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, and Taiwan have graced the historic stage.
Prior to joining Miller, she owned Publicity Specialties, a public relations, marketing, and special event consulting firm, serving a diverse client base in the upscale retail, hospitality, and non-profit sectors and enjoyed a 20-year association with Houston’s Theatre Under The Stars.
Cissy is a Senior Fellow of American Leadership Forum. She serves on the Board of Texans for the Arts. In 2012, Houston Woman’s Magazine named her one of “Houston’s 50 Most Influential Women.” In 2022, Theatre Under The Stars Leading Ladies honored her with the Shirley Stein Outstanding Champion in the Arts and Education Award. Cissy and her husband, Marty Davis, reside in Montrose.
