An eleventh generation Georgian, the values Pamela Wright learned as a child are the ingredients to her philanthropic heart. A 35 year Houston resident, she is the co-founder and owner of Wright Pawn & Jewelry the award winning “How To Get Away With Luxury®” go-to since 1992. Her innate servant leadership style, internal drive, and external focus on others create a unique business style in which she views advertising as invitations to visit her store and customers as welcomed guests.
With 2016 making Wright Pawn & Jewelry a 10-time Better Business Bureau “Winner of Distinction” and a 3-time Houston Press Best Pawnshop recipient, this boutique style pawnshop continues to delight customers with its extraordinary treasures. Although many Houstonians declare their favorite store as “Houston’s best kept secret,” word is out. The National Pawnbrokers Association bestowed its 2016 Outstanding Community Relations award upon Pamela for “advancing the quality of life in her community through public service and volunteerism.”
Combining her love for Texas with her jewelry expertise, Pamela created the Texas Front Porch pin selected by First Lady Anita Perry to benefit the Texas Governor’s Mansion Restoration Fund. Pamela’s jewelry designs have been enjoyed by Nancy Reagan, Alma Powell, Anita Perry and other national figures, as well as private-citizen Houstonians.
Elected as 2016 – 2019 Chaplain General of the 183,000 member National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Pamela’s philanthropic reach extends far beyond our starlit skies. Past Houston accolades include 2016 Honorary Chairman of Citizens for Animal Protection (CAP) Gala, 2016 Co-Chairman of Pathways for Little Feet, 2016 Houston Children’s Charity Helping Hands Award, 2014 Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce Breakthrough Woman, 2014 Houston Sweetheart, 2013 ABC-13 CCFA Woman of Distinction, and 2012 Houston Woman Magazine’s Fifty Most Influential Women. She was a 2008 Cover Girl, 2001-2003 Houston Children’s Charity Christmas Party Chairman, 2001 CAP Gala Chairman and 2000 CAP Celebrity Pet of the Year. A member of Second Baptist Church, she is a past president of the Ouachita Baptist University Houston Alumni Club.
Pamela and Jack, her husband of 34 years, celebrate two children, one daughter-in-law, two cats, two dogs and four grandchildren whose favorite phrase is “God bless Texas!”
