Carolyn and Mike Mann have been serving the Houston Community for years by opening their home for many fundraising events including The University of St. Thomas tea for performing arts, Houston Symphony, Houston Ballet and Baylor Research Advocates for Student Scientists (BRASS). Together they have co-chaired The Guardian of the Human Spirit Luncheon, the Symphony Maestro Wine Dinner, and the 2013 Houston Symphony Centennial Opening Night Gala. They were chosen as honorees for the 2013 Celebration of Champions Luncheon for Texas Children’s Cancer Center. While Carolyn co-chaired The Women’s Home Gala in 2001, Mike donated a scholarship for a Women’s Home resident in Carolyn’s honor. In 2004, Mike and Carolyn were the honorees for the Women’s Home Gala.
Dr. Mike Mann, founder and chairman of the Mann Eye Institute is a renowned, board-certified eye surgeon. He is an active member of the Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the American College of Surgeons. He has been published in leading ophthalmology journals and speaks regularly before medical groups across the United States. Mike has served as president of the Humble Intercontinental Rotary Club and chaired their fundraiser supporting the starving children of Nicaragua. He has performed eye surgeries in several third-world countries. He serves on the BRASS committee for choosing scholars. He also supports and serves on the board of Centenary College, in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Carolyn is a charter member of the Houston Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary and serves on the executive board. She also serves on the Board of Trustees of Houston Symphony, Houston Ballet, and the advisory board for Shepherd School of Music. Carolyn was an active member of the Bluebird Circle for ten years. She also is long time member and past president of the River Oaks Rose Club. In 2005, Carolyn co-chaired the Houston Symphony Ball. She was named a 2006 Woman of Distinction by Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America.
The Mann’s are very proud of their two children, their spouses and four grandchildren.
