Leigh and Reggie SmithReggie and Leigh moved to Houston from Atlanta, Georgia, when Reggie helped open King & Spalding’s Houston branch. They have raised their three children here, and two are native Texans! Having collected contemporary art since the late ‘80s, the couple has served on boards or committees at the Contemporary Arts Museum, The Menil Collection, Museum of Fine Arts Houston and Art League Houston. Reggie is a past President and Chair of the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston and currently serves as Board Chair of the Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Aspen, where Leigh serves as co-chair of the National Council. Reggie also serves on The Menil Collection’s Collections Committee and the Glassell School’s Core Fellows Committee. Leigh is on the Contemporary and Modern Subcommittee at MFAH, and they co-chaired The Menil Collection’s 30th Anniversary Gala. This spring, they will co-chair the Contemporary Arts Museum’s 75th Anniversary Gala.

Reggie and Leigh have also supported non-profits addressing homelessness. Leigh served on the boards of Star of Hope, Emergency Aid Coalition and Trees of Hope. Together, they support United Way, St. Paul’s Methodist Church Foundation and March of Dimes. 

The couple has supported and chaired events for both Hermann Park and Buffalo Bayou Park Conservancies. Additionally, together they have established a named scholarship for first-generation law students at their mutual alma mater, the University of Georgia School of Law.

Leigh is a past President and current Board Chair of Houston Ballet and a past Board Chair of Houston Arts Alliance, which administers and manages city art grants and collections. Leigh is a current board member of Asia Society Houston and was named to the Hall of Fame by the Houston Area Women’s Chamber of Commerce, a Woman of Distinction by Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, honored for her philanthropy by St. Jude and named to the Houston Chronicle’s Best Dressed List. The couple received a Houston Humanitarian Award and has been honored by Houston Arts Alliance, Art League Houston, and Fresh Arts Coalition for their patronage of the arts.
