Named a “Pacesetter of the Year” by the Cancer League, Laura has devoted her time and expertise to numerous charitable events, including those for the Houston Area Parkinson’s Foundation, American Cancer Society, Operation Rainbow, I Have A Dream, Crohn’s and Colitis oundation, Theater Under the Stars, and Houston Symphony. She has also given countless hours to produce events for the James Beard Foundation, Sturge-Weber Foundation, Citizens for Animal Protection, Sunshine Kids, Texas Neurofibromatosis Foundation, the Mayor’s Texaco Grand Prix, and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Wine Competition. She was instrumental in organizing the opening gala for Houston Museum of Natural Science’s “Lucy’s Legacy: The Hidden Treasures of Ethiopia,” attended by His Excellency Girma Wolde Giorgis, President of Ethiopia.

Passionately believing that “need never takes a vacation,” Laura is tireless in her committed leadership efforts to meet needs wherever they exist. Laura is mother to three magnificent children who continue to inspire her (even if they have outgrown school spaghetti dinners) and is married to television news anchor Dave Ward.
