Having worked on-air in television for twenty years (fourteen at KTBU-TV Channel 55 as Host of Wild about Houston) and as Publisher of Absolutely! Memorial Magazine for six, Lara had always wanted to own a business, so in April 2017, she founded Swoon Media LLC and purchased Absolutely! Memorial Magazine. In September of 2017, five months after buying Absolutely! Memorial Magazine, she changed the name and look to SWOON Memorial, then six months later, in March 2018, launched SWOON Katy/Fulshear.
Her charitable work is something she takes seriously as she has helped raise millions of dollars for Houston Charities, including chairing the World AIDS Day Luncheon, Houston Ballet Ball Auction, Museum of Health Science Gala, Houston Ballet Nutcracker Market- Preview Party, Children’s Museum of Houston Gingerbread Bash and Kids Meals’ 10th Annual Harvest Luncheon.
Lara is a Board Member for Kids Meals and sits on the Houston Symphony League Board. She is a member of the National Charity League, The Children’s Museum of Houston, The Houston Ballet Guild, Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo’s Trailblazer Committee, and the Junior League of Houston. Lara is also involved in her children’s school, Memorial High School.
In Lara’s spare time, she can be seen around the Memorial Neighborhood she loves so much with her husband, Brent Milam, and her seventeen-year-old daughter, Dylan, and her fifteen-year-old son, Brooks, and her giant, lovable Sheepadoodle!
