kilroyjeanie2 Jeanie Kilroy is no stranger to volunteer work. She grew up watching her mother give back to the community as a volunteer and began her volunteering as a charter member of Zoo Friends in 1969. She served as their Ball Chairman and President.

The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) has honored Jeanie as a Woman of Distinction in 1992 and 1997. In 2004 she was the Woman of Distinction Ambassador. She served on the CCFA Advisory Board and was Chairman of the 1999 Winter Ball.

Jeanie is a volunteer for the NATIONAL ASSISTANCE LEAGUE where she has served as a Guild Counselor beginning new chapters in Charlotte, North Carolina, Mobile, Alabama, and the Plano area, Texas. She has served as ASSISTANCE LEAGUE of Houston President, Long Range Planning Chairman, Gala Chairman and Style Show Luncheon Chairman twice.

In addition, Jeanie is a Museum of Fine Arts, Houston Life Trustee, member of the Bayou Bend Board of Directors, their Building Committee and Chairman of the Textiles and Costume Subcommittee and The American Art Committee. She has chaired the Museum Grand Gala Ball, their Fashion Show Luncheon, and Bayou Bend’s Garden Party. She is an Advisory Trustee of the Houston Ballet Foundation and chaired the Nutcracker Market in 1986. She is also an Advisory Trustee for The Women’s Home and a Trustee of the Museum of Natural Science. She is a member of the Yale Art Gallery Board of Governors and serves on their Executive Committee. In 2003 and 2004, she chaired the Harris County Hospital District Foundation Gala dinner and serves on their board.

Volunteering is what makes Jeanie happy, but her greatest happiness is her family. Jeanie has one son, Billy, and a granddaughter, Colleen. She also has an extended family of nieces, nephews, and three cats. Between her volunteer work and all her family she still has time for her favorite pastimes, bridge, antiquing and the Astros!
