Elizabeth and Alan SteinElizabeth and Alan Stein have been married for 42 years, but their story began long before that in the 9th grade. After moving to Houston in 1984, they began another love affair with the city and all it had to offer.

In those early years, Alan devoted his time to building several Texas recycling businesses. Moving to Houston to become a partner at ACCO Waste Paper was the springboard for acquiring numerous other facilities, which led to spearheading several startups. Ultimately, Alan sold, not once but twice, to Fortune 500 companies, BFI and Waste Management. Through these accomplishments and Alan’s keen investment sense, the Steins have grown their portfolio, providing the means to support many of Houston’s worthwhile philanthropic organizations.

Elizabeth has always been driven to give back to her community. She believes we can all contribute to improving others’ lives. Making this her career has led to more than 30 years of rewarding volunteer work. She began this career serving SBISD, in the classroom, on Campus Advisory Teams and on District Boards. Simultaneously, she became a supporter and board member of the Houston Ballet, served as a Nutcracker Market Chair and served as President of the Bayou Villages Chapter of the National Charity League. She served VICTORY for 25 years and is today a Founding Member of VICTORY Houston, supporting local cancer initiatives.

Elizabeth and Alan have co-chaired many events in Houston. In 2017, Elizabeth was asked to spearhead fundraising for equipment and support for Houston firefighters. Together with a group of dedicated friends, they launched the “Red Hot Gala.” After celebrating their fifth year in October, they are proud and grateful to have raised over $3.2 million with the generous support of the Houston community.

They remain longtime supporters of the Holocaust Museum, the Jewish Federation, St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, Citizens for Animal Protection, TEACH, the Houston Symphony, HLSR, TJ Martell, and Houston Achievement Place, among many others.
