The Bryan Museum “Coastal Cowboys” Gala Raised $900,000 for the Former Historic Orphan’s Home
Galveston’s Bryan Museum, the historic and former Galveston’s Orphan’s Home (one of the few surviving residences of the 1900 hurricane) reimagined by wildcatter J.P. Bryan and wife Mary Jon Bryan, celebrated its annual gala, dubbed this year as “Coastal Cowboys.” Four hundred guests, decked in formal Western attire, gathered to celebrate this legendary setting and pay tribute to Texas’ history and legacy of coastal ranching.
The evening commenced with an intimate VIP event, an exclusive opportunity for a select group to mingle in the Bryan Museum with the founders, honoree Gerald Sullivan and chairpersons Kelley Sullivan Georgiades and George Georgiades, and their families.
The picturesque Conservatory served as the backdrop for the silent auction, where guests savored the “Brush Fire,” a signature cocktail created exclusively for the event. The auction featured highly coveted items, including a private museum tour with founder J.P. Bryan, a Houston Texans Suite, and an original painting by Western artist Nocona Burgess. Adding to the allure, some Texas ranchers in attendance brought their own ranch brands, which were then seared onto a cowhide onsite.
Guests delighted in the Western-themed dinner, curated and crafted by CULINAIRE-Inspired Events & Cuisine. The menu included Elote Street Corn and Gulf Shrimp Salad, RC Ranch Beef Filet, Carrot Soufflé and Chocolate Pecan Dacquoise.
Fifth-generation Galveston rancher and Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame member Gerald Sullivan received honors and well-earned applause during dinner, as did Rodeo Houston Auctioneer Randolph Holford, who engaged the crowd with a few fantastic live auction items.
After dinner, lively music from Roger Creager packed the dance floor. The Bryan Museum ended another successful gala by raising over $900,000 for their efforts.
