Roma’s Virtual Wine Dinner is Salivating and Educating!

For the last couple of months, ROMA, a happening Rice Village Italian eatery, has hosted “virtual wine dinner” on Thursdays with an Italian winemaker who connects with the restaurant and guests via Zoom live from Italy.

At 7:30 p.m. each week (2:30 a.m. in Italy!), a leading Italian vintner leads guests through a guided tasting of three of her/his wines as they enjoy a pairing menu in the comfort of their own home or socially distanced inside the restaurant. For $119 per couple, guests pick up three bottles of wines and three courses curbside at the restaurant between 5-7 p.m. At 7:30, they all join a Zoom conference where the featured guest from Italy is already waiting.

Previous dinners have featured Baron Francesco Ricasoli, Count Alberto Tasca d’Almerita, and Barolo producer Giuseppe Vajra. Chef Angelo and ROMA owner Shanon Scott taste the wines beforehand and create a menu specially for the wines, including classic regional pairings and creative Italian cuisine. Up to 70 guests join each week for events that regularly sell-out.

The restaurant and newly designed patio are also available for dinners and parties. The just-completed outdoor patio now holds seating comfortably for 35-40 guests, which complies with COVID guidelines.

To make reservations for these creative Thursday-night dinners, or if you wish to just come to enjoy a great meal in their space, call Shanon Scott at Roma at 713.664.7581 or email shanon@romahouston.com. Buon Appetito!
