The Social Book Celebrates Warner Roberts' "Houston's 10 Most Beautiful"-Spring 2025
It never gets easier to produce this article! However, because it is my joy to spotlight those in our community who do so much to benefit others, I present this one: my 19-year edition with Laurette Veres’ H Texas and Inside Houston and 3 years with The Social Book.
I define beauty as the ability to spread joy, lift spirits, encourage and inspire, and we measure it by service to mankind. With that definition in mind, I present 10 Most Beautiful Houstonians who are not only physically captivating; they make our city more beautiful.
This article will be released in an upcoming issue of Inside Houston Magazine.

Carolyn Faulk

CAROLYN FAULK lives by the quotation that hung on a plaque in her father‘s office: “I shall pass through this world but once. Any good deeds that I can do, any kindness that I can show, let me do it now, for I will never pass this way again.” Simply with an enormous amount of courage, confidence and a mere $5,000, she created A & C Plastics, Inc. Today, with Carolyn as CEO, the company is the nation’s single largest supplier of plastics. Always remembering her father’s teachings, Carolyn founded The Faulk Foundation to assist families with specific needs. One example of the foundation purpose occurred when, after Hurricane Harvey, volunteers provided more than 1,000 families with requested items needed to get back on their feet. She is a lifetime Vice President of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo and on the Board of Directors of the Texas Business Hall of Fame. She has been named as one of Forbes’ 100 Most Powerful Women and as an Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young.
Carolyn’s advice to those who have asked for the secret of her success is: “When you help someone get what they want and need, the feeling is priceless. And, when you believe in something, you can achieve it; AND never give up.”

Gretchen Gilliam

GRETCHEN GILLIAM’S dream, from a very early age, was to be involved in the fashion industry. Through thirty years in the real estate business and a creative turn for two years in her own traveling Glamour Gypsies fashion truck to markets all over Houston and beyond, a brick and mortar shop evolved. With her dream clearly in mind and through losing one lease but finding another, The Hive Showroom Partners was born. Sharing a space on Rice Blvd., twelve small and women-owned businesses are under one roof, offering a variety of boutique clothing, hand-made jewelry, accessories, candles, gifts and home decor. They call themselves “The Bees.” As Gretchen says: “It’s like a beehive, where twelve female entrepreneurs pull together and bring different talents to the table. When you support small businesses, you are supporting a dream.” Next to her passion for fashion, and equally as important, is her love and dedication to the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. She is a 30-plus year volunteer along with being a Director of the “Show”. As she says, “This organization constantly amazes me with the outstanding rodeo, entertainment and livestock events while providing educational support within the community. I have met many of my best friends and mentors from my volunteer work.”
