American Cancer Society and Steak 48 Kick Off Ten Days of the 26th Annual Holiday Shopping Card
$750,000 or higher was the goal for the ten days of the annual Holiday Shopping Card to benefit American Cancer Society. The upstairs private room at Steak 48 was the site for the gathering of supporters who came to enjoy their sumptuous hand-passed offerings.
Chairpersons Danny and Robin Klaes gratefully welcomed the packed crowd with heartfelt remarks and detailed how funds were raised for this annual effort. Over 400 popular retail stores and restaurants across Houston, Galveston and The Woodlands donate 20 percent of their sales towards this multi-day event. In the more than a quarter-century of this shopping and dining extravaganza, over $19 million has been added to the charity’s treasury, which assists cancer patients and their needs.
“Over 8,000 cards are sold yearly, with 100 percent of the proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society,” said Jenny Todd, Senior Executive Director of the American Cancer Society in Houston.
