Little Readers Were the Big Winners at Legacy Community Health “Little Readers Fiesta”
Over 150 people gathered at the River Oaks home of Paige Fertitta to join Presenting Sponsor H-E-B and chair Lisa Helfman to celebrate Legacy Community Health’s Little Readers Fiesta. This was the organization’s tenth year of commitment to early childhood literacy.
Honored at this year’s event was the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation. The foundation and H-E-B are partners in the Legacy’s Little Readers program, promoting childhood literacy and reading aloud by providing every pediatric patient with a free book and a “prescription to read” at each well-child visit. In this decade, almost 300,000 books have been distributed to children across the community!
Chree Boydstun, Chief Development Officer for Legacy, said, “We are deeply honored to recognize the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation for its incredible contributions to literacy. Together, we inspire a new generation of readers and future leaders.”
The annual event raised almost $250,000 with supporters and the help of additional sponsors, some of which included ExxonMobil, Sidney Faust, Memorial Hermann, Bastion Technologies, Rob and Georgina Ladd, Regina Rogers, Kashay and Steve Crawford, Rosanette Cullen, Fifth Third Bank, Rebekah and Hao Le, Chree Boydstun, Lauren and George Mattuzzi, Pinnacle Environmental Services, Richard Flowers and The Events Company.
