The Changing of the Guard at Houston Symphony League President’s Appreciation Celebration & Style Show
More than 130 supporters of the Houston Symphony League gathered at Lakeside Country Club luncheon to show their appreciation and watch the proverbial gavel pass from League President Leslie Siller to incoming President Cheryl Byington. Leslie’s year in this position was enormously successful, as more than $100,000 was raised to help assist Houston Symphony’s fundraising efforts.
The excited crowd listened to remarks from Houston Symphony’s Executive Director and CEO John Mangum, who gladly announced the Symphony’s brand-new Music Director Juraj Valcuha and remarked that as the organization maneuvered past a pandemic year, over 1.3 million people were engaged with a full season of concerts and performances.
Honored at this posh event was April Lykos, who was given the Ellen Kelley Volunteer of the Year award for her 22 years of service and contributions to Houston Symphony and the League.
An informal fashion show with fashions from Badgley Mischka, Kiddie Chic, Oscar de la Renta, Lafayette, Valentino, and Carolina Herrera entertained the lively crowd. A very happy Tammie Anne Johnson walked away with the afternoon’s raffle prize as the luncheon ended.
