Three New Pieces and a Beautiful Gallery Were Unveiled at The Art of The Islamic Worlds Gala

More than 320 black-tie and formally attired guests arrived at The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston’s Caroline Wiess Law Building, and walked the red carpet to preview art objects to be voted on later that evening and imbibe on cocktails beneath a jeweled archway leading into Cullinan Hall where chairpersons Sima Ladjevardian and Sabiha Rehmatulla welcomed them to The Art of The Islamic Worlds Gala.

Master event decorator Richard Flowers and his team at The Events Company transformed the museum space with custom-painted Indian tapestries, and burgundy and white florals atop rose-gold and apricot linens.

City Kitchen created a delectable Middle-Eastern dining experience. Harissa-braised Short Ribs, Grilled Sea Bass, and Fava Bean Soup were definite highlights of the evening’s fare.

New York-based choreographer Fadi J. Khoury and his FJK Dance team entertained with a specially designed routine that reflected the evening’s theme. Then, DJ Senega put the excited crowd on the dance floor, where they remained until the gala’s end! 

Museum voters purchased three exceptional pieces of art for the permanent collection thanks to the more than $616,000 raised, and attendees previewed the new 6,000-square-foot Hossein Afshar Galleries for Art of the Islamic Worlds during this special night.
