Celebrating Two Decades of Legacy Community Health’s “Mint Julep” Because They “Can-Can”

For the past two years, the pandemic halted this annual gathering of flamboyant revelry, previously held over more than twenty years to benefit Legacy Community Health. “An Afternoon at Moulin Rouge” brought out 300 celebrants, dressed in feather boas and finery, ready to dance the day away at White Oak Music Hall. Chairpersons Tony Bravo, Cyndy Garza Roberts and Ray Purser, honorees Katy Caldwell (retired Legacy CEO), Domenic Cusano and Felicia aka Scarlett St. John and sponsor Ed Finger were thrilled as they, along with over 25 performers, combined their efforts to raise an astounding $121,000.

The long-awaited routines began with a rendition of “Lady Marmalade-Moulin Rouge” by Alexa Bouvier, Ivanna Cupcake, Marcia Mink Gill and Angela Mercy. This rousing musical delivery was followed by Ginger Grant, who was bedecked in a pink strapless gown and a blonde wig and channeled Marilyn Monroe through her “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend” performance. Disco icon Donna Summer was grandly represented thanks to Adeciya Iman, who brought the crowd to their feet. Kings of Houston brought the Village People to life with a lively medley and Kimberly Anne O’Neil and Martinique Bouvier led a tribute to Crystal Rae Lee Love, who was a staple at this event for many years and passed away during the event’s hiatus.

Renowned event decorator The Events Company worked their design magic and recreated the Moulin Rouge ambiance for the guests’ enjoyment.

Socially present and dressed for the rowdy day of merriment:  Shannon Hall, Vivian Wise, Richard Flowers & Angel Rios, Lynne Nazareth & Naveen Pinglay, Tripp Carter, Gary Hammett & David LaDuke, Sharon Land, Alex & Demi Jessett, Saundria & Jerome Gray, Frank Billingsley & Kevin Gilliard, Jenny Block Brown & Robin Brown, Lisa Foronda Harper & Greg Harper, Danny Villarreal & Patrick Siddons and Chree Boydstun
