Vicki WestA native Texan, UT alumnus, and a University of South Texas College of Law graduate, Vicki West is a woman of many talents. In 1996, after her time in California as the owner of the Great Greek restaurant, Vicki returned to Houston and began an amazing and dedicated life of community involvement.

She began sharing her time, talents, and leadership with the American Heart Association and was tapped to chair the 2000 Heart Ball. Friendships formed during that time led her to get involved and volunteer with the Houston Symphony League. With a reputation as a highly successful ball chair and leader, Vicki was chosen to serve as the Symphony League President and to spearhead several other significant League events. Thus, her passion for volunteering was born.

When dear friend Lilly Andress proposed launching The Salvation Army Women’s Army in Houston, Vicki was at the forefront. She embraced the Salvation Army’s mission of “Doing the Most Good” and brought her time, talents and treasures to every role she undertook, including serving as Auxiliary President, “Reflections on Style” Co-Chair and Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army.

Her community leadership positions include serving as a musician sponsor and member of the Board of Trustees for the Houston Symphony, Executive Board Member and Co-Chair of Barbara Bush “Ladies of Literacy Luncheon.” Vicki believes in the importance and power of music as a cornerstone of learning and of excelling in life. Vicki has also served as a Governing Director and President of Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music. This fashion-forward woman was named to the 2022 Best Dressed Hall of Fame.

Vicki is grateful to her late mother, Liv Estrada, for setting an example for a life dedicated to love and service. Vicki is a devoted mother to her beautiful daughter, Cristina; a supportive stepmother to three handsome young men, a daughter, and their wonderful families; and a grateful grandmother whose life has been enriched by her five grandchildren.

Being honored as a Houston Treasure is a privilege she never anticipated. Her motivation is always seeing the good that still needs to be done.
