Dynamic duo Leticia and Steve Trauber are passionate about giving back to the community that they love. They work tirelessly to help Houston’s underserved citizens. In addition to giving generously to many deserving organizations, they have spent thousands of hours volunteering their time.
Most dear to them is an AAU basketball team (Houston Hoops/Houston Select 2014) that they sponsored and mentored from 3rd grade through high school graduation. This team was comprised of kids from schools in Houston, many from the inner city, with little or no hope of attending college without a scholarship. The Traubers provided the kids and their families an opportunity to travel throughout the world to attend the most elite tournaments and camps. They also provided academic tutoring as well as opportunities for personal growth with exposure to cultural attractions and etiquette classes. This team won two National Championships and placed third in a European Championship. The Trauber’s son, J.T., was a member of the team. Steve served as assistant coach. Leticia was team mom. Most importantly, every young man on this team was accepted into college and played or are playing a Division 1 sport and are seniors this year. Three play in the NBA.
Steve, Vice Chairman and Global Head of Energy for Citi, received his B.A. from Rice University, where he played basketball. He was an Austin Scholar and earned his MBA from the J.L. Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. Dealmaker Magazine named Steve one of the “Top 10 Rainmakers” on Wall Street. He has been honored with a Distinguished “R” Award, a Distinguished Owl Club Award and inducted into the Rice Athletic Hall of Fame. Steve was also awarded the first annual Congresswoman Barbara Jordan Award for community service and, along with Leticia, received the “I Have A Dream Award” for their support of children’s charities and education. Leticia, also a Rice University graduate, has been honored as a “Mother of the Year,” a “Woman of Distinction,” and been inducted into Houston Chronicle’s “Best Dressed Hall of Fame.”
While Steve was born in Connecticut, Leticia is a native Houstonian, and they have four amazing children.
