The Lynn Wyatt Theater Opens at MFAH-
“Houston’s Star Finds a Cinematic Home!”

The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston’s new Lynn Wyatt Theater Opening welcomed 100 guests to the Nancy and Rich Kinder Building.  The event was a celebration of Lynn Wyatt and her love of cinema with guests entering the event on a red carpet to have their photos taken before enjoying champagne and popcorn, Wyatt’s favorite movie snack.

Chairman of the Board of Trustees Rich Kinder welcomed guests into the new theater where three short films were introduced, which were:  (1) An interview with Lynn Wyatt, discussing the film program at the MFAH; its original home, Brown Auditorium; and the Film Committee, which she first chaired in 1992; (2). A short created by filmmaker Lisa Immordino Vreeland, featuring images and footage of Lynn Wyatt, and Vreeland’s narration; and (3) A short created by the museum, featuring images and footage of Lynn Wyatt, along with cameo appearances and testimonials from MFAH Director Gary Tinterow; Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner; Houston Grand Opera Artistic and Music Director Patrick Summers; Houston Ballet Artistic Director Stanton Welch; Alley Theatre Resident Acting Company Member Todd Waite; filmmaker Richard Linklater; and Elton John.

Wyatt was then lauded for her 30 years of support by Gary Tinterow, Director, The Margaret Alkek Williams Chair, The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and invited Wyatt took to come to the podium to officially open the new theater.

Guests then moved to the Lower Arrivals Hall of the Kinder Building decorated with golden linen and white florals to enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and an elegant multi-course dinner.

Houston now has its own star with her very own theater! Brava Lynn!
