March of Dimes Celebrates 44 Years of Best Dressed and a Chairman's Trifecta Honors a Loved One's Memory

Three-time March of Dimes Best Dressed Luncheon chairman Rosemary Schatzman, Raffle Chair Rachel Regan, and 800 guests filled the Post Oak at Uptown ballroom and led the March of Dimes to a record $1.4 million luncheon honoring ten “Best Dressed” Houston women. Honored were Ann Ayre, Amanda Boffone, Erica Littlejohn Burnette, Gillian Sarofim, Myrtle Jones, Ellecia Knolle, Amy Pierce, Susan Plank, Leigh Smith and Allison Thacker. Sponsors and partners for this fabulous afternoon were PaperCity and Shelby Hodge, and Neiman Marcus, its General Manager, Kathy Leigh, and Public Relations executive, Heather Almond, who presented a fabulous runway show. A touching moment occurred as Rosemary shared the deeply personal reason her commitment to March of Dimes is so profound. Her beloved niece, Rosemary Elise Eldridge, died tragically just six days after giving birth last summer following a cardiac event. 500 Social and Business swells turned out for the VIP debut of Mack Allen’s, the lavish new arrival bringing a dose of Sinatra-era swagger and old-Hollywood glamour to the axis of River Oaks and Uptown. Restaurateur Mack McDonald welcomed the well-heeled crowd to the sprawling space at the base of the 5POP office tower, where the evening’s theatrical flourishes began before guests even crossed the threshold. Houston Symphony Opening Night Concert & Gala Logo for America’s 250th
Over XXX were assembled for the pre-concert reception at Lynn Wyatt Square before taking their seats in the Jones Hall auditorium. Conductor Steven Reineke led the Houston Symphony in presenting a dazzling program featuring acclaimed mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard and special guest Matthew McConaughey, and chaired by the incomparable husband-and-wife team of Steven & Joella Mach. The program featured beloved songs by George Gershwin, classics from the Great American Songbook, and Aaron Copland’s Lincoln Portrait, creating a powerful tribute to America’s rich artistic heritage. Following the concert, gala dinner guests boarded luxury buses to continue the celebration at The Corinthian Houston. The extraordinary evening provided exceptional music, fine dining, and a vibrant celebration of the stories, culture, and spirit that have shaped America for 250 years. Bravo!

The Social Book will hold its 22nd Annual Houston Treasures Awards Gala at the beautifully designed hotel, The Greenleigh. This Galleria-area sanctuary in the city pairs thoughtful architecture with lush greenery, cultivating a sense of calm amid the buzz of Houston. The luxury resort will feature almost 300 rooms, a ballroom that hosts events for 450, and an unmistakably Houston and Texas feel. Jazz pianist and club owner of Doc’s Jazz Club Houston and Jazz, Texas San Antonio, and now best-selling author Brent “Doc” Watkins will showcase some of his legendary group as entertainment at this invitation-only, four-course seated dinner and award presentation honoring the twelve Houston Treasures honorees and three Legendary Treasures.
The Furniture Bank Raised a Record-Setting $500,000 at its Annual Gala Dinner

Chairs Christine Johnson and Jody Merritt filled the Hilton Houston Post Oak ballroom with 500 excited guests, and thanks to sponsors, dynamic auctioneer Johnny “Bravo” Holloway, and a happy crowd of supporters, almost $500,000 was raised for this much-needed 33-year-old organization, founded and supported by Jodie Hoffer, owner of Hoffer Furniture, who left a legacy that continues today.
