Guests Were “Pretty in Pink” at the Annual Nancy Owens Breast Cancer Foundation Luncheon

After a two-year break from COVID, this annual luncheon once again brought out the “pink” for 600 happy guests at Hilton Americas-Houston. In this event’s 21-year reign in Houston, over $2.3 million has been raised for breast cancer research. This luncheon is a tribute to its namesake Nancy Owens, a much-loved and respected Houston real estate icon who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2001.

KHOU-TV’s Great Day Houston host Deborah Duncan led off the luncheon program by introducing former chairman Amy Bernstein, who formally passed the baton to current chairman Terri Guerra, who was also awarded the HAR John E. Wolf Community Service Award. A poignant moment in the program occurred when Renee Davy, a local real estate agent and a cancer survivor, was awarded the “Nancy Owens Spirit of Courage Award” and spoke briefly about her personal journey.

Author, psychology practitioner, podcast host and retired NFL player Devon Still was the keynote speaker and delivered a heartfelt and inspiring speech.

The success of this annual event was made possible by Event Underwriter Jennifer Hernandez-Legacy Mutual Mortgage, along with Peggie Kohnert and Richard Yont. Due to this support, 100% of the $165,000 raised was distributed equally to several local breast cancer research programs.

Socially present (not previously mentioned):  Dominique Sachse, Jentry Kelley, Elizabeth Rankin Rice, Fernando Hernandez, Julie Pistone, Laurie Tatum and Lori Carper
