Guests Dressed up and “Bubbled Over” at iWRITE’s Lucky for Literacy Bubbles and Bingo Bash
What’s more fun than champagne and Bingo? Not much! So much was the atmosphere at The Post Oak Hotel as 300 guests gathered with chairs Lara Bell and Suzanne Stiles for the 6th Annual Lucky for Literacy: Bubbles and Bingo Bash, which benefited iWRITE Literacy Organization and was sponsored by SheSpace.
The event featured unique features like the “Bubbles Wall” and the Pop-Up Shop Pre-Party in the ballroom’s foyer. The foyer was adorned with every shade of pink and a balloon arch, creating a vibrant atmosphere. The “Bubbles Wall” (flutes of champagne mounted to a wall) added a touch of whimsy, while the ‘Pop-Up Shop Pre-Party’ provided an opportunity for guests to shop for a cause. Some of the participating vendors, including David Peck, Haute & Cool, Kelly K Designs, Mélange Eye Candy, and many others, generously donated twenty percent of their sales to the iWRITE Literacy Organization.
One of the most entertaining aspects of the event was the participation of the table hosts and their guests, who dressed in costumes to match their table themes. Their creativity was fully displayed with themes like Corporate Barbies, Mob Wives, Bridgerton Ladies, Dolly Partons, Hollywood Glam, and more. Even H-E-B’s team got into the spirit with their “Fresh Department” table. Local designers David Peck and Chloe Dao had the tough task of judging, and after much deliberation, the “Iris Apfel” table was declared the winner!
Emcee Deborah Duncan welcomed guests and introduced Bingo Caller Johnny “Bravo” Holloway. Throughout the event, Deborah and Johnny would ring the bell, and a table number was pulled from the bowl. Everyone at that winning table would receive gifts from Saks, Tootsies and Vintage Contessa. iWRITE founder Melissa Williams Murphy was brought to the stage and thanked sponsors, H-E-B for the floral spring arrangements atop the tables, and all those who came for a great time supporting an even greater cause. This annual luncheon raised over $125,000 for the charity’s school and after-school programs, which provide underserved students with writing curriculum, workshops, and book publishing projects and contests to increase their love for literacy and foster necessary communication skills to succeed in school and life! BINGO!!!
