Houston Sweethearts Celebration Tea Celebrates Moms

The 11th Annual Houston Sweethearts Celebration Tea, which normally occurs near Valentine’s Day, transformed into a Houston Sweethearts Moms event this year.  Hostesses Anne Carl, Deborah Duncan, Sylvia Forsythe, Kim Moody, Warner Roberts and Alicia Smith welcomed almost 90 guests to 51Fifteen Cuisine and Cocktails at Saks Fifth Avenue. Some of Houston’s most accomplished women were honored, not only for their philanthropic endeavors but also for being great moms!  Channel 11’s Deborah Duncan served as Mistress of Ceremonies and introduced the honorees who included Dr. Amita Bhalla, Kristy Bradshaw, Brigitte Kalai, Dr. Kelly Larkin, and Dr. Mia K. Wright.  Honoree Amy Pierce was missing due to a last-minute complication.

Each year the event has benefited The Mission of Yahweh homeless shelter for women and children, and one of the highlights of the day came as it was announced that Brigitte and Bashar Kalai will be donating $100,000 for naming rights for The Mission’s new dormitory which will be added to its 11-building campus in the near future.  Cheers could be heard throughout Saks.
