Homemade Hope Certainly Shows “Home is Where the Heart Is” at its Fifth Annual Gala
“If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.” This adage certainly has its roots buried deeply in Homemade Hope. Founder Blair Bentley describes its mission as one that nurtures and empowers homeless and underserved children, teaches them how to cook nutritious foods, develops their life skills, and provides them with emotional and academic support.
Earlier this month 320 guests gathered at River Oaks Country Club to celebrate the charity’s “Home is Where the Heart Is Gala,” and raised over $300,000 in the process. Board Member Brooke Bentley Gunst, chairpersons Margot Delaronde Marcell, Heather Mountain and Dr. Monica Patel, and honorees Scarlett and Scott Hankey were thrilled at the record-breaking success of the event.
The always lively auctioneer Johnny “Bravo” Holloway took the stage to take the bids for VIP tickets and a meet and greet to any Dierks Bentley concert, along with a signed guitar and many other well-sought-after items.
Open hearts and pocketbooks were the order of the day at this event, which will afford Homemade Hope the opportunity to provide after-school culinary classes, mentoring and field trips for children.
