Renowned Supporters Honored at Holocaust Museum Houston’s Guardian of the Human Spirit Luncheon

Hilton Americas-Houston proudly hosted 750 guests at the annual Guardian of the Human Spirit Award benefiting Holocaust Museum Houston. This event acknowledges individuals and institutions dedicated to enhancing the lives of others and to better humankind. The organization’s efforts, along with those of Chairpersons Mandy and Ronnie Caress, Denise and Steve Estrin and Jessica Strehlow and Brian Caress, paid off beautifully by raising over $710,000.

Rhona and Bruce Caress, named for the Museum’s second floor, were honored at this prestigious gathering. For over 27 years, they have lent their valuable support. Native Houstonian and nine-time Emmy Award-winning Director and Executive Producer Thomas Schlamme flew in to give the keynote address. A few of the past recipients of this illustrious accolade have included Y. Ping Sun and David W. Leebron, Punkin and Walter Hecht, Ric Campo, Velva G. and H. Fred Levine, Edith and Josef Mincberg, the Harry Mach family, Honorable Annise Parker, Barbara and Gerald Hines, Lester and Sue Smith, Sandra Weiner and Martin Fein, Naomi Warren and Fred Zeidman, Joan and Stanford Alexander, Ed Wulfe H-E-B, Jack Blanton, Rev. William A. Lawson, Julie and Ben Rogers, and Ron Stone.

Hilton Americas-Houston’s Kosher menu was one of the evening’s stars as diners were served an entrée salad of Grilled Chicken on Romaine Lettuce accompanied by Tarragon Potato Salad and a Maple Butternut Squash Dressing. The dessert course didn’t disappoint as duos of Strawberry Shortcake Parfait with Strawberry Sauce and Pecan Pie with Chocolate Sauce were enjoyed.
