Parents Prepared their Children for the Road
at Children’s Museum Houston 31st Friends & Families Luncheon

Chairs Maya Pomroy, Nina Rand and Mehgan Wichuk welcomed 400 excited guests to the 31st Annual Friends & Families Luncheon, benefiting Children’s Museum Houston. River Oaks Country Club was the location for the yearly gathering, and all who attended left not only inspired but thrilled with the more than $200,000 raised to support the Museum’s efforts!

KHOU Channel 11 Meteorologist Chita Craft welcomed the enthusiastic crowd with her signature charm and words of inspiration and philanthropy. The keynote speaker for the event was New York Times best-selling author and former Stanford University Dean of Freshmen Julie Lythcott-Haims, who shared her message to parents to allow their children to forge their own paths and embrace their individuality. Her powerful statement, “Do not prepare the road for the child. Prepare the child for the road,” resonated with everyone in the ballroom.

The ballroom’s décor was enhanced by the generosity of H-E-B’s Central Market, which provided the floral centerpieces throughout the room. A successful raffle of outstanding prizes brought in additional monies, which added to the total funds raised while celebrating this organization’s 44th trip around the sun.
