Thirty-Five Years of Standing Up for Children at Risk at Their Gala Featuring a Comedy Legend
For thirty-five years, Children at Risk has been a beacon of hope, working tirelessly to improve the quality of life for children in Texas. Their recent gala, “Stand Up For Children,” was a testament to their unwavering commitment. Over 360 guests gathered at Hilton Americas-Houston, raising an impressive $350,000. These funds will be instrumental in supporting the organization’s ongoing efforts to address the most pressing needs of Texas children and families.
The evening was made even more special by the presence of April and Wells McGee, who chaired the event, and the honorees, Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital and Stacey and Al Lindseth. Marissa Kiefer, the Hospital’s Senior Vice President and Chief Executive Officer, graciously accepted the award on the medical institution’s behalf. The entertainment for the night was none other than the legendary comedian and actor Dana Carvey, who had the crowd in stitches with his comedy and impressions.
Channel 2 anchor Khambrel Marshall served as the evening’s emcee. Dr. Bob Sanborn, Children at Risk’s President and CEO, spoke eloquently about the organization and its efforts to address the root causes of child poverty and inequality.
Table floral centerpieces were generously donated by H-E-B. Francisco + Co produced the inspiring gala. An exciting raffle, silent auction, and live auction added to the overall money raised. An Unforgettable Night for an Unforgettable Cause!
