Cheryl retired in 2018 after 41 years with BP, rising through the ranks in managerial and VP positions. She was the BP representative invited to the University of Texas – Austin to deliver the keynote speech to incoming freshmen at the McCombs School of Business.
Given Cheryl’s wide range of interests, many charitable organizations have benefited from her commitment and leadership.
Cheryl’s involvement has benefited the Houston Symphony League, where she chaired the Neiman Marcus Style Show and later served as President during the 2022-2023 season and as Co-chair of the “Symphony in Harmony Ball.” She served four terms on the Houston Symphony Board of Trustees.
She served as the 2nd Vice President of the Houston Fire Museum and Education Center and was actively involved in the Museum’s 2023 Capital Campaign. She chaired and co-chaired the HFM ‘Rescue Me’ Galas for four years.
Other events receiving her time and talents as co-chairperson were the SPCA “Howl-A-Ween Gala,” the 2022 Virtuosi of Houston “Celebration of Healthcare Heroes Gala,” and its “Silver Jubilee Gala,” the 2021 Italian Cultural and Community Center Luncheon, the Performing Arts Houston “Black and White Masked Ball,” the 2019 UNICEF Gala, the Women’s Fund 2017 “Intimate Dinner with Friends,” and as chairperson for the 2015 Children’s Defense Fund Luncheon.
Cheryl was an American Heart Association Circle of Red member from 2012-2018, a 2012-2014 Board Trustee on behalf of BP and an AHA “Go Red for Women Luncheon” Chair.
Cheryl has received awards and accolades from Citizens for Animal Protection, St. Jude, KNOW Autism, CCFA Woman of Distinction, Woman of Substance, Top 20 Impact Maker, GHWCC Hall of Fame and the Texas Children’s Hospital Salute to Champions.
Cheryl is a member of the Houston Methodist Society for Leading Medicine, Salvation Army Auxiliary, The Barbara Bush Ladies of Literacy, Houston Ballet Guild, American Heart Association Guild, Women’s Fund Board/Advisory Board, Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo International Committee, and supports the Mission of Yahweh.
Cheryl has visited over 60 countries. In addition to traveling, Cheryl can be seen on the golf course getting her exercise and Vitamin D naturally.
