70s New York Visits the Children’s Museum at its “A Night at Studio 54” Gala
Houston A-listers sported black tie and disco-glam attire, complete with bell bottoms, platform shoes, boas, and “funkadelic” shades, to support Chairs Katie and Scott Arnoldy and Holly and Steve Radom and underwriting chairs Whitney and Ryan Burns and Allison and Ivan Chavez by raising an astonishing $1.1 million for Children’s Museum Houston‘s “A Night at Studio 54” Gala.
Held at The Corinthian and presented by Phillips 66, this psychedelic evening, complete with 600 guests, Liza Minnelli and Andy Warhol impersonators, “Studio 54” décor from Bergner & Johnson, entertainment from Drywater Band, and a sumptuous multi-course dinner, put the “groovy” guests in a “disco” “boogie to the floor” partying mood.
The live auction was filled with shimmer as chairs Mona Sarofim and Brittany Zeplain showcased several significant items to the crowd, which brought in a very hefty sum. They included a catered dinner for 24; a private overnight birthday party in the Children’s Museum Houston, which sold twice; two rescued puppies; an Ultimate Houston Sports Package, which included Diamond Club tickets for the Astros, Lower Bowl tickets for the Rockets, and 50-yard line club level tickets for the Texans; and a 3-carat 14K white-gold tennis bracelet.
This remarkable organization has been part of our Houston museum-area community for 31 years. Its success lies in its ability to instill confidence in children. The museum welcomed 650,000 visitors last year and its impact on 190,000 children and their families has been inspirational.
