CanCare Hits a Winning Shot
CanCare must have had a conversation with the almighty, because the weather was perfect for the supporters who showed up for the always successful annual Golf Classic earlier this week at Lakeside Country Club, which was chaired by Kelly and Aaron Wolf.
Golfers teed up for a shotgun start at noon. All social distancing and safety requirements were in place from outdoor registration that was contactless, hand sanitizers throughout, socially distanced tables (with no seating) and individual boxed grab-and-go lunches. During the scramble format tournament, guests were able to bid on a curated auction and unique raffle packages to generate additional funds for the charity.
The day’s finale took place, as the winners were announced and raffle names drawn, and the kudos began—to celebrate that more than $200,000 was raised for CanCare. The economic downturn has forced CanCare to respond with resilience and creativity so that they can continue to help patients and caregivers in need because cancer does not stop in the face of a pandemic. Over the past months, CanCare has stepped up to continue to ensure that no one endures cancer alone amidst a global pandemic. As the only interfaith organization in Houston with highly trained cancer survivors who provide free, one-on-one emotional support to patients and caregivers; CanCare remains committed to meeting the growing need for psychosocial support for our cancer community, now more than ever.
