Renoir Set the Impressionist Stage
at MFAH Grand Gala Ball
It seems European Impressionist painters are taking Houston by storm. The ongoing Van Gogh exhibit near CityCentre is attracting crowds by the hundreds. An August Renoir painting, Dance at Bougival, will be coming to the MFAH as part of the upcoming exhibition Incomparable Impressionism from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and was the inspiration for the recent Grand Gala Ball at the Caroline Wiess Law Building at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
300 guests laid testament to the artistry of décor master Richard Flowers and The Events Company, who simulated a Parisian Garden with a floral arch in the North Foyer and designed floral arrangements that evoked the flora seen in works by the French Impressionists, along with projections of Renoir paintings on the walls of Cullinan Hall. The design was complete with vintage street lamps and sidewalk café tables to provide an intimate spot to catch up with friends over cocktails and while listening to a string ensemble.
Gary Tinterow, Director, The Margaret Alkek Williams Chair, The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and Rich Kinder, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, both welcomed guests to this auspicious occasion. By the end of the spectacular evening, the 2021 Grand Gala Ball raised more than $1.2 million to support the Museum’s general operating budget.
Congratulations! … Bravo! … Il est bien fait!
