The Social Book’s 22nd annual launch party, “All the World’s a Stage!,” was held at The Ballroom at Bayou Place. It was a smash hit thanks to the amazing performance of event coordinator Paul-David Van Atta with PDV Special Events and his supporting cast of BMW of West Houston, Silver Eagle Distributors, Rexberry Luxury Weddings & Events, Bright Star Productions, Stage Directions and GTX Productions showcased amazing talents with their efforts. GTX Productions took control of the VIP Reception and entrance for guests and displayed their one-of-a-kind clear lucite stage and “Fog Machine, as well as partnering with Richard Brown Music for “Flashdrive”—a string quartet combined with a DJ.” The ceremony welcomed guests and sponsors and "Houston Treasures" creator Warner Roberts introduced The Social Book 2017 “Houston Treasures,” which are: Gregory Boyd, Jane-Page Crump, Dr. Charles Fraser, Jr., Winell Herron, Mady & Ken Kades, Joanna & Brad Marks, Hannah & Cal McNair, Sybil Roos, Millette & Haag Sherman, Cleverley Stone, Patrick Summers and Pamela Wright.
The ballroom (through GTX Productions’ “fog curtain projection screen”), was festooned by The Perfect Touch, Flowers by Nino and Grand Services. It was replete with entertainment galore, thanks to the masterful job of event coordinator Paul-David Van Atta and PDV Special Events. Richard Brown Music led the way with their orchestra and singers performing always-popular standards and theater music. Contributing to the vocal ambience were the incomparable Mary Griffin, Pierre Alexandre, Bubba McNeely and Yvonne Washington. Best Entertainers provided a magnificent “Stilt Walker with Marionnette” and a costumed William Shakespeare character while Party Parrots’ Zsa Zsa squealed in delight and Cirque Imagination contorted. The Face Exchange’s playful photo booth won “Best Costume” applause for their whimsical fashion accessories and props.
Food purveyours perfomed amazing culinary skills for a rapt audience. Co-starring were: B & B Butchers, Benjy’s and Local Foods, Cakes by Gina, Chocolate Fountain Express, Complete Eats, CULINAIRE Inspired Cuisine and Events, H-E-B, Hyatt Regency Houston and SUSHIC.
The “Spirits” world was center stage, including new offerings from 360 Vodka, as well as Broker’s Gin, Hussong’s Tequila, KeKe Beach, Ron Rio Rum, Tarantula Tequila, Tequila Rose and Triple Crown. Balvenie Scotch, Monkey Shoulder, Hudson’s Rye Whiskey, Barefoot Wines & Bubbly, Red Bull, Stella Artois and Bud Light were also keeping guests happy throughout the evening.
